Right Click on 3D Screen

1. To Drawing

This option will create a static Drawing Scene of the current view

2. To Live-Drawing

This option will create a live Drawing Scene of the current view

3. Save View

This option allows you to save the current 3D View as View.  This option saves the Zoom, Rotation and Pan position of the current 3D View.  Use the Saved Views controls in the Ribbonbar to work with Saved Views you have created.

4. Show/Hide Walls

If you would like to Show or Hide Walls for more clear 3D Views you can do so by selecting this option.  Simply enable or disable the Walls in the list to Show/Hide them.

5. Properties

The following tabs are available on the View Properties screen:

General Tab

Following are the options on the General Tab:

To Drawing

There are two options in the To Drawing area:

  • Bitmap - This option will export a Bitmap image of you 3D scene when using the Right Click Option 'To Drawing'.  Use this option to send Rendered views to the Drawings page.  It is important to note that when in the Drawings area and you drop your 3D Bitmap scene onto your page it will be hidden (this is to conserve system resources).  Simply Right Click on the Scene click Properties and remove the check from the Hide Scene option.
  • Hidden Line - This option will send a Hidden Line Scene to the Drawings area when you select the Right Click 'To Drawing' option.

Enable Auto Spin - With this option selected you can, in a 3D view left click on your view and rotate your Room/Assembly.  When you release the Left Click your Room/Assembly will continue rotating until you click on the view again.

Change to Line Drawing on View Move - With this option disabled when in Render or Texture View the view will remain Rendered and will not revert to a Line Drawing.

Solid Render Tab

The options here only impact the Solid Render (Red Cube) renders

General - Outline Filled - With this option enabled Solid draws a black outline around all part edges

Enhance -

  • Watch Enhancements - The Watch Enhancements option updates the screen as the rendering enhancements are performed using the Enhance option.  If this option is not set, the screen will only update after the render enhancements are complete.
  • Enhanced Lighting - The Enhanced Lighting option will add lighting calculations for actual beam width, position and intensity when using the Enhance option.  The lighting settings may be set at the Lights option in the sidebar in a 3D view.
  • Dithering - The Dithering option adds a significant amount of processing time and is only helpful for close up rendering of Textures when using the Enhance option.  This option simply applies some randomization noise to avoid the appearance of banding in Textures.
  • Anti Alias - This option allows you to smoothe the jagged lines typically associated with Rendering when using the Enhance option.  The farther right the slider the 'smoother' the edges of the Renderings will be.

Ambient Light - Brightness - Use this option to control the Brightness of the Ambient Light.  The farther right the slider the 'Brighter' the Ambient Light will be.  The Ambient Light serves to set the base level of light of the scene.  It evenly illuminates all surfaces in the scene, including the insides of cabinets.  However, it will never case shadows.  Increasing its brightness will increase the overall illumination of the scene, as well as decrease the overall contrast.  Setting the Ambient Light too high will make you image look flat.

Head Light - Brightness - Use this option to control the Brightness of the Head Light.  The farther right the slider the 'Brighter' the Head Light will be.  The Head Light is a Light which always shines from your Viewing perspective (all other Lights move with the view's rotation.)  Basically, imagine this as a Light shining from your computer screen onto the scene as this is what it simulates.

Photovision Tab

The options here only impact the Photovision (Blue Cube) Renders.

Following are the options on the Photovision Tab:

General - Auto Refresh - Automatically re-render if Properties have changed

General - Light Geometry - A global switch to turn on/off light geometry, for light geometry to show, it must be 'on' both here and 'on' in the light itself.  See the Lights topic for more information.

Render - Anti Alias -  This setting defines the quality of sharp edges.

Render - Light Sampling - Reduces noise in direct light areas.  The default value should be sufficient in most cases.  Increasing this value will significantly increase Rendering time and may have no real impact on the Render.

Render - Reflection Detail - This setting determines the number of bounces a reflection makes.  A lower setting will only reflect off maybe one surface, with a higher value the reflection will bounce onto more surfaces.  The default value should be sufficient in most cases.  Increasing this value will significantly increase Rendering time and may have no real impact on the Render.

Post Process -

  • Image Editing - Enables the manipulation of the Post Process Properties defined below in the sidebar after the Render is complete.  This gives you a lot of control over the final render and is highly recommended when high quality renders are desired.
  • Exposure - The exposure is a multiplicative term applied to the colours of processed image during tone mapping.  Increase the exposure to light up your tone mapped image, or decrease it if you want to make it darker.
  • Gamma - A non-linear operation used to encode or decode luminance or tristimulus values in an image.
  • Temperature Adjust - Enables/Disables White Balance
  • White Balance - White balance changes the overall mixture of colours in an image and is used for colour correction.  HSL is an alternative colour space to RGB.  It is a cylindrical-coordinate representation of colour points.
  • Brightness - This option allows you to increase (Brightness > 0) or decrease (Brightness < 0) the image brightness.
  • Contrast - This option allows you to increase (Contrast >0) or decrease (Contrast < 0) the image contrast.
  • Burn - In a tone-mapped image, pixel luminances have been transformed to the unit interval[0, 1] making feasible to best display it on any device.  The pixels having the biggest luminance (Lmax) in the source image are mapped to pixels having luminance = 1 in the tone mapped image.  However, sometimes it is desirable to reproduce some kind of burning into the tone-mapped image.  It's a way to reflect how some sensors can saturate (e.g. the eye) under too bright light.  This is the purpose of the burn factor which expresses how much of the range between [0, Lmax] will burn into the tone-mapped image.
  • Sharpen - The Sharpen option is used for enhancing the definition of edges in the image.  The sharpen filter kernel size in 3 x 3 pixels.
  • Glow - The Glow option is used for increasing the white area intensity in the image.  The glow filter kernel size is 11 x 11 pixels.
  • Blur - The Blur option applies a gaussian blur filter on the final image.  The blur filter kernel size varies from 1 x 1 pixels to 11 x 11 pixels depending on the slider position.

Background -

Style - Select the Background Style from the following options:

  • Plain  - Renders the background colour behind your scene.
  • Graduated - Renders a gradient running vertically from background to foreground colour
  • Image - Allows you to use a Bitmap image as the background
  • Clouds - Uses the foreground and background colours to make clouds

Back - Select the Background colour here

Fore - Select the Foreground colour here

Image - Select the Background Image file, if the style is set to Image, here.

Image -

  • Size - This option sets what pixel resolution the images will be rendered out at when you use the Photovision to File options.  You can use the pre-set image sizes, or set your own by using Custom.  The higher the resolution, the longer it will take to render the image.
  • Width - If Custom is selected for Image Size then set the Custom Image Width here
  • Height - If Custom is selected for Image Size then set the Custom Image Height here.

Draw Tool - Sets the size of the grid spacing on the plan page.

Layers - See the Right Click on the Plan page for more information on Layers.
