Larger jobs feeling non responsive? Performance & Best Practice Guidelines for CABINET VISION - Here is a list of things to check...
- Multiple Applications Running
- Grid and Snap to Point functions
- Job File Location
- Unused Drawing Scenes
- Multiple Rooms in s Single Job
- Temporary Files on the PC
- Free Disk Space on the C: Drive
- Avoiding Texture Mode in 3D
- Network and Internet Connection
Multiple Applications Running
To optimise performance:
- Close VORTEK Spaces while actively working in CABINET VISION. Only have both programs open when you are transferring updates between them.
- Close any unnecessary software such as web browsers, email clients, or other background programs.
- If Outlook must remain open, ensure your system has at least 32 GB of RAM to avoid performance issues.
Grids and Snap-to-Point Functions
- Keep Grids and Snap-to-Point features disabled by default.
- Only enable them when specifically required to avoid unnecessary strain on system resources.
Job File Location
- Save active jobs locally to your C: drive while working. This provides significantly faster performance.
- Once the job is complete, move it to a server or shared drive for storage.
- Important: Saving jobs directly to a network location can result in slower performance and increase the risk of file corruption.
Unused Drawing Scenes
- After deleting scenes, remove any unused entries from the Available Scene List.
- This step is critical for keeping the Job File Size manageable and improving PC performance.
Multiple Rooms in a Single Job
- For large projects, split multiple rooms into separate job files.
- This improves performance and makes the project easier to manage.
Temporary Files on the PC
- Regularly clear temporary files, especially in the Output folder, to reduce data buildup and maintain system efficiency.
Free Disk Space on the C: Drive
- Ensure your C: drive has at least 50 GB of free space.
- More space is recommended to allow CABINET VISION to operate at peak performance.
Avoiding Texture Mode in 3D
- Use Wire Mode in the Layout 3D View during detailing tasks.
- This reduces graphical load and increases responsiveness during design work.
Network and Internet Connection
- Always use a wired Ethernet connection instead of Wi-Fi.
- This provides a more stable and consistent connection, which is especially important for license validation and accessing network-hosted files or servers.
