How do I Create a Backup?
Lets's create a backup and put the backup on DropBox - That way we can pick up the file from another PC in any location...
First we need to open the Backup Utility
a) Open Cabinet Vision to the Splash Screen > Utilities > Backup Utility
Before we go ahead with our first backup, we'll take a look at the Settings tab...
a) In this example I have increased the values for Prompt To Delete Archives (Then we won't get prompts before we are ready to cull some old backup files)
We use the default Backup Location, the 'Automatic Backups' folder
I quite like to use the Backup Comment as the Folder Name too
Ok. We're ready to select the files for our backup. Enter a backup comment and create the backups.
a) Here you are able to target files that you wish to restore on another system. The selection here is typical of most CNC customers we help out.
Email Backup - If it's the first time you've ever used the Backup Utility - Tick Email Backup and the Utility will zip the files for you.
When this has happened once, you can untick the Email Backup and the zip file will continue to be created in future...
b) You can make the comment anything that works for you - We use our customer name, version and date...
c) Copy your comment if you'd like to use it to name the zip file for DropBox...
d) Click OK
In the final section of this Article we name the zip file and copy it to DropBox...
a) Navigate in windows explorer and enter the backup folder. Click the zip file twice so as to rename. I use 'Ctrl V' to paste the Backup Comment...
b) Copy the file and paste into your DropBox or OneDrive etc...
